Dr. Tineke Grent - 't Jong is a research assistant (senior PostDoc) at the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Virchow-Klinikum. She works together with Prof. Dr. Peter Uhlhaas on the "Berlin Prodrome Affective and Psychotic Disorders Study (BPAPS)".  

The BPAPS study focuses on the development of biomarkers for the early detection, and description of course of symptomatology, of children and adolescents with high-risk symptoms for the development of (schizophrenic) psychosis or bipolar disorders. Within the context of the BPAPS study, her work focuses on finding electrophysiological correlates of auditory and visual perception processing deficits in patients with schizophrenia, using (parallel) optically pumped magnetometer (OPM) and electroencephalography (EEG) recordings.

Dr. Tineke Grent - 't Jong brings years of research experience in various research areas, from basic cognitive neuroscience to translational neuroscience. For her research projects, she has used recording techniques such as electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and the brain stimulation technique tACS (Transcranial Alternating Current Brain Stimulation). During the last 5 years (2014-2019) she has worked with Prof. Dr. Peter Uhlhaas at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, on the YouR study ("Youth Mental Health Risk and Resilience Study"), with a focus comparable to that of the BPAPS study. She is still affiliated with the University of Glasgow.
